The Co-Chairs of the Bali Process Technical Experts Group on Returns and Reintegration (TEG-RR) hosted a series of key events in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from 3 to 5 December 2024.
The discussions focused on the Forward Work Plan (FWP) 2024–2029, which outlined the strategic priorities and actions for the TEG-RR over the following five years. The successful execution of the FWP contributed to achieving the objectives set forth in the TEG-RR’s Terms of Reference, as well as supporting the 2023 Adelaide Strategy for Cooperation.
Key Objectives of the Forward Work Plan (FWP) 2024–2029:
- Enhance coordinated and effective returns and reintegration processes among members.
- Addressing both current and emerging returns and reintegration challenges through collaborative solutions.
- Promoting the exchange of information on trends, issues, and initiatives related to returns and reintegration.
- Proposing initiatives to the Regional Support Office (RSO) to complement existing efforts and ensure alignment with regional priorities.
- Identifying and addressing the capacity-building needs of member countries.
Outcomes of the FWP:
- Establishment of mechanisms for information sharing and expertise exchange, ensuring the region’s preparedness for emerging challenges.
- Strengthened cooperation and capacity building across the region.
- Contributions to the development of policies and frameworks that support effective returns and reintegration programs in the Asia-Pacific region.
The FWP remains a dynamic document, updated as new priorities and challenges arise. The Co-Chairs continue to collaborate with other working groups, the RSO, and the Government and Business Forum to align efforts and drive forward mutual priorities.
