On 30 September 2020, a virtual Consultation and Innovation Session focused on the financial sector was convened to advance key actions in combating labour exploitation and human trafficking. The session was held in partnership with the Liechtenstein Initiative for Finance Against Slavery and Trafficking (FAST), reflecting the critical role that financial institutions play in detecting, preventing, and disrupting exploitation-related activities.

Participants explored innovative approaches, shared best practices, and discussed emerging challenges in identifying and addressing financial flows linked to human trafficking. The session also facilitated dialogue between governments, the private sector, and other stakeholders, fostering collaboration and strengthening regional responses to labour exploitation.

The outcomes of the session have informed ongoing discussions with Bali Process members, helping to shape future initiatives, guidance, and strategies to enhance the financial sector’s capacity to combat modern slavery and exploitative practices across the Asia-Pacific region.
